Blankets, cookbooks, and books can be purchased with this form.

As a part of our Salemsborg 150th Anniversary celebration, we will be launching a fundraiser for the purpose of cleaning and restoration of our altar painting, which is scheduled to take place the first part of July. While we do not know the exact amount, we have been advised to expect the bill to be around $9000. The offering at the 3:00 PM program on Sunday, May 26 will start the funding for this project. The painting was important enough for our ancestors to save from the burning Spire Church, and it likely hasn't had any work done to it since it was installed in the present church over 90 years ago. We think the 150th anniversary of the Salemsborg congregation is a good time to give some special attention to our treasured painting.

Faith of Our Fathers Sesquicentennial: a time to reflect on the 150 year history of Salemsborg Evangelical Lutheran Church located in rural Saline County. Faith-driven Swedish immigrants settled here in 1868 and one of their first decisions was to establish a church on this prairie - Salemsberg or peaceful mountain organized in June 1869. A sod church emerged and as the congregation grew, a second larger church (Frame Church) was completed five years later in 1874. As the congregation continued to expand a third church (Spire Church) was built and the first services were in 1893. At that time the spelling was changed to Salemsborg or peaceful fortress. The current church structure (Two Tower Church) was built in 1926 because lightning struck the Spire Church in 1925 burning it to the ground. Past and present families and friends will gather on May 26-27, 2019 to honor our founding fathers and celebrate our present membership. Sunday May 26 will begin with coffee fellowship at 10:00 AM in the church basement. Sunday Worship Service will begin at 10:30 AM with Interim/Transition Pastor Bill Peterson, PMA Judy Peterson and assisting minister Pastor Julie Tillberg Pederson. Following the worship service a catered meal (brisket, pulled pork, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, tossed salad and rolls) will be served in the fellowship center. Free-will donations will be accepted for the meal. Later that day at 3:00 PM the Anniversary Celebration Program will take place in the church sanctuary and will feature greetings from previous pastors and families, alumni choir as well as reflections from members. Monday May 27 will begin with Memorial Day Service at 8:30 AM by the stone pulpit next to the church (weather permitting.) Lindsborg American Legion Post 140 veterans, Lindsborg Boy Scout Troop #120 and Smoky Valley High School musicians will participate in the service. Major General John H. Admire USMC-Retired will bring the message as we remember and honor our veterans buried in area cemeteries. Brunch will be served (free-will donation) in the Fellowship Center following service to allow for continued conversation and reconnecting with friends of Salemsborg.
